  • When Travis (Robert De Niro) says to Betsy "You have beautiful eyes." If you look behind Betsy you see the man Travis buys the guns off outside. (Source: Film) - brayj
    • Correction: This is simply not true. Freeze frame at that point and you'll see that the person outside the window is not only dressed different to Steven Prince's Traveling Salesman, but also has much shorter hair. (Source: DVD Freeze Frame) - Henry K
  • Much of the climax, the big shoot-out, was cut because it was too bloody, Scorsese claims that when it was edited, it just looked more violent! (Source: DVD) - shaun
    • Addition: They also desaturated the colors in the shoot-out scene to make it less graphic. It was necessary in order to keep an R-rating. (Source: DVD extras - Making of Taxi Driver) - Webmaster
  • After Betsy runs out of the porno movie Travis calls her on a pay phone and she dumps him, sort of, but during this scene the camera tracks away from him looking down an empty corridor. Scorsese claims that was the most important shot in the film, 'cause Travis being let down is too painful to watch, even the camera can't handle it. (Source: DVD) - shaun
    • Addition: Yes. The crew got confused when Scorsese wanted to use these kinds of untraditional camera movements. (Source: DVD extras - Making of Taxi Driver) - Webmaster
  • Harvey Keitel was first assigned the role of the campaign worker, but after seeing the script he asked Scorsese if he could play the pimp instead. Scorsese agreed and they extended the role of the pimp, who in the script was portrayed as a black man. Keitel even talked with a real pimp to get some hints and pointers. • Robert De Niro got him self a real taxi driver's license and drove a real taxi to get into character. He did this when he had time while shooting another movie called 1900. (Source: DVD extras - Making of Taxi Driver) - Webmaster
  • The taxi cab is never towed. (Source: DVD extras - Making of Taxi Driver) - Webmaster
  • Director Martin Scorsese makes a cameo in the scene where Betsy (Cybill Shepherd) walks into the Palantine campaign headquarters in slow-motion. He can be seen sitting behind her on the steps, following her angel-like movements. He also appears as the crazy husband in Bickle's cab. (Source: DVD extras - Making of Taxi Driver) - Webmaster
  • When Cybill Shepherd first read the script she threw it across the room. She was insulted to have been offered such a nothing part. (Source: DVD extras - Making of Taxi Driver) - Webmaster
  • Cybill Shepherd says she was frightened to death in the scene where De Niro barges into the campaign headquarters. He played his role so convincingly. (Source: DVD extras - Making of Taxi Driver) - Webmaster
  • Jodie Foster's character's (Iris) appearance is based on a real prostitute. She can be seen in the movie, e.g. in the scene where Travis is about to run over Iris. The girl pulling Iris aside is that girl. (Source: DVD extras - Making of Taxi Driver) - Webmaster
  • Jodie Foster was completely embarrassed to wear the revealing clothes she was wearing in the movie. (Source: DVD extras - Making of Taxi Driver) - Webmaster
  • In the more explicit and sexually provocative scenes Jodie Foster was replaced by a body double due to her young age (14?). In the scene where Iris is supposed to unzip Travis' pants we actually see Jodie's sister Connie from behind. She is 8 years older than Jodie.
