Carrying a loaded gun without license in his luggage
Slater was supposed to get on a plane to Los Angeles at John F. Kennedy's International airport in 1994, when his luggage activated the security alarm. In his bag was found an unlicensed 7.65-caliber Beretta. Slater confessed and was released on Christmas Eve. Slater's attorneys managed to make the sentence less severe than it could have been. He was sentenced to three days of social service at a children's safe house.
